SuperCharger

We believe that the people with the greatest needs have the greatest ideas to meet those needs. They just don’t have access to the greatest mentorship, guidance, and funding.

This is why we’re launching SuperCharger - a Shark Tank-style incubator that connects small hyper-local grassroots NGOs and social entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas to help their communities with angel investors, companies, and experts looking to make a direct, immediate and positive impact.

SuperChager powered by Venture Devils with animated charger

We implement this solution through the SuperCharger. A hybrid competition and incubator -- for good.

SuperCharger is a partnership between the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute and The Difference Engine.

SuperCharger is powered by the Venture Devils platform. We aim to catalyze the success of social entrepreneurs by connecting them with mentors who provide regular, ongoing support; opportunities for funding; as well as a connection to a community of like-minded individuals looking to help their communities. SuperCharger(s) have the opportunity to develop key skills needed to launch their venture to create social good. SuperCharger is set to launch in 2022.

SuperCharger was formed to respond directly to the concerns of nonprofits.

Nonprofits do amazing work, but they are held back by a system that encourages them to seek donations, fundraise, and cultivate donors and grantors.

This is certainly one pathway.

Nonprofits have the potential to develop entrepreneurial skills and techniques, such as learning how to pitch ideas, develop and launch products and create value beyond just writing and speaking about problems. SuperCharger is an incubator for forward-thinking NGOs to develop these skills and successfully grow their venture.

Who is SuperCharger for?

SuperCharger is for ASU-affiliated groups and individuals who are looking to create social change through entrepreneurship. Ideal candidates have innovative startup ideas that will help reduce social, political, or economic inequality.

How is SuperCharger different from other programs?

SuperChargers have the opportunity to make a difference by having access to all Venture Devils’ resources. Once accepted, SuperChargers will be able to create connections with experienced entrepreneurs who have worked in the realm of social entrepreneurship. Resources, advice, and guidance for SuperChargers will be geared towards a social good or non-profit mission rather than a for-profit one. SuperChargers also have the opportunity to gain funding for their startup through our bi-annual Pitch Playoff and Demo Day events. ASU startups earn an array of available seed grants, which range between $1,000 and $100,000 in value.

How can I apply?

There are two components to the SuperCharger application:

  • SuperCharger
    • Applicants will first apply through the application found on The Difference Engine website
  • Venture Devils application
    • Once selected to be a SuperCharger, SuperChargers will apply through the Venture Devils process
