Exciting news, folks! The Difference Engine has just released the latest ranking on The Women's Power and Influence Index. We recently shared the ranking for eBay, and now it's time to reveal where American International Group (AIG), a multinational financial and insurance services company, stands on the Index.

As a woman who values equity and fair treatment in the workplace, you may be interested to know that our team has completed an extensive months-long research project to create the Women's Power Index. We collected data from various sources, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and publicly available information related to eBay, to analyze the status of women in the workplace.

AIG's placement on the Index is categorized as a "Pacesetter" signifying a company that has many strong and promising policies representing an inclusive work environment, yet still possesses noteworthy gaps in their full commitment to equity.

Some of the reasons for AIG’s position on the Index include:

  • AIG stands out through its robust initiatives such as comprehensive harassment and discrimination training, dedicated caregiver PTO policies, and a concerted focus on equitable mentorship and recruitment practices.
  • While the organization has demonstrated strong commitment in several areas, specific information about health benefits and community engagement was not available in the data.
  • AIG is making a meaningful impact through strategic programs including the Women’s Executive Leadership Initiative, which aims to elevate women's representation in leadership roles, and their Conscious Inclusion training designed to address unconscious biases among managers.
  • Based on the latest Equal Employment Opportunity data, AIG's executive cohort includes 30.9% women, while the overall female representation in the workforce stands at 51.6%.

The Women's Power and Influence Index serves as a catalyst for vital conversations around gender equity within corporate landscapes. Our aim is to empower women to make informed career choices and to advocate for organizations to prioritize gender inclusivity.
